Season 11 of The Walking Dead premiered on Sunday, and the first episode was a slow burn with a lot of tension.
The fear the walking dead cast is a recap of the episode Acheron Part 1.
The Whisperers are no longer with us. In Alexandria, old and new communities have come together, including Maggie Rhee’s. What is the issue? There isn’t much left of Alexandria. Maggie suggested that they visit her former neighborhood. The only catch was that most of the individuals had been murdered by a lethal gang who struck like assassins as the goods were being delivered. Eugene’s squad was being questioned by a settlement named the Commonwealth while a group had set out for the community to assist restore Alexandria.
Let’s go through everything again!
It’s going to get a little spoilery!
An Assault Mission
The episode starts on a military installation in the dead of night. Maggie, Daryl, and a few others infiltrate a supply facility filled with docile zombies. They must use caution so as not to disturb them. They are quietly successful in collecting food supplies and lifting them via the skylight from whence they fell. When a line breaks while lifting a cargo, Daryl’s rapid reaction of grabbing the rope to prevent it from falling to the earth results in his being cut off by some glass. A few drips fall on a walking below, startling everyone.
The gang gets to obtain what they came for with Daryl, Jerry, and Alden covering for them inside, cutting down military walkers. Carol’s situation becomes complicated when she chooses to go back and acquire more supplies at the last minute. We consider this operation a success since everyone made it out alive.
Reconstruction from the Ground Up
Alexandria is currently undergoing reconstruction. A few people’s tensions are still high. There is, however, a sprig of joy and celebration to be enjoyed. In Alexandria, a couple more members of Maggie’s gang arrive.
After the Whisperers devastated their land, society, and drove away any wildlife that might have been hunted, people question how Alexandria would survive. Maggie cites Meridian as the origin of her and her group. The rest of the party had been murdered by a well-trained, mystery gang, with the exception of the group that had gone with her to lead walkers away. They only showed there at night, she said.
It frightens some, but a group of volunteers, including Daryl and Gabriel, join Maggie in her quest to reclaim Meridian. Surprisingly, Negan agrees to participate. It’s clear how unwelcome he is right away, but he has a good track record when it comes to fending off unwanted guests. We’re still on the fence about Negan. Can a few nice acts spread out over time make up for the atrocities he’s committed?
Vision via a tunnel
The party traveling to Meridian has a long trip ahead of them. Due to the violent storm, the party is forced to pass via a subway tunnel, which leads to many plastic-wrapped pedestrians. It looks like something out of a horror film. Maggie is adamant about not stopping and intends to gank each one as they go. Negan eventually speaks out about how deadly things have become as a result of Maggie’s recklessness. That is not something he is going to deal with. A few others are in agreement. Maggie is simply waiting for a suitable moment for Negan to die, according to Negan. He even gives her the option of finishing it right then and there. Maggie tells him that, although she wants him dead, she was selected to head this group, and if he isn’t cautious, her patience with him will soon run out. Daryl hesitates a little, but otherwise stays silent on the topic.
When a few of the gang members vanish with the food, everyone first suspects Negan. He feels compelled to say something, which frightens them away. As a small herd of walkers creeps up on them, it is soon forgotten. When they reach a subway vehicle, Maggie, Negan, and Daryl take the back while everyone else goes to the top. Dog flees and slithers under the train vehicle, making things worse. Maggie yells after him, but Daryl is adamant on staying with Dog. Maggie is the last to climb the rear of the vehicle, although she is hampered by her walkers. Rather of assisting her, Negan walks away, abandoning her to an unknown and perhaps fatal destiny. On the one hand, Negan is proving to be the same old Negan we’ve known all along. Maggie’s icy attitude toward him, on the other hand, has come back to haunt her.
When I finally get up with Eugene and his gang, they’re all being interrogated in a room. From who their parents were to where they went to school, there was a lot to learn about them. We believe this is more of a test to determine whether they still have ties to the previous world or if they are completely adjusted to the one with the wandering dead and lack of social structure. All of these inquiries seem to be quite serious, and they begin to make them feel uncomfortable.
Finally, Ezekiel goes to the adjacent guard and asks him whether he is in command, followed by his own inquiries. The guard continues to keep a close eye on them, making them all quite anxious. Eugene is still adamant about not leaving until he sees Stephanie. When a guy in the same location is taken away for “reprocessing,” he immediately reconsiders. It’s time to go.
Princess, Eugene, Yumiko, and Ezekiel devise an escape plan thanks to Princess’s surprising knowledge of the guards and her amazing observation abilities. Two of the guards take their suits as they sneak out for a good time. It’s a solid idea, despite its simplicity. When they get distracted by a wall of photographs, the plan goes awry. Princess finds a picture and message for Yumiko on a wall covered with photographs, instructing her to remain rather than leave. Yumiko’s presence leaves us wondering what or who was so essential that she had to remain.
